The last nip of winter seems to be hitting Southwest Minneapolis this week, but by next week, it could be gone.

That doesn't necessarily mean your gardening this year will be all plain sailing.

“We’re still in a moisture deficit, a drought,” says Terry Straub, Hennepin County Master Gardener program coordinator, so gardeners will need to be as attentive as ever to their gardens. 

On April 5, get a dose of advice on the best kind of advice to provide at the Linden Hills Library, when one of Straub's fellow Master Gardeners come to town. They'll offer a wide variety of expertise to answer your every question, with at least least 48 hours of horticultural education at the university, 12 hours of continuing education, and 50 hours of volunteer service each.

“There is huge interest in vegetable growing,” Straub says, and rain gardening is becoming popular, but you'll find “old stand-by” topics such as perennials and bulbs, too.
