Parents Talk: 'He Put What In His Nose?'

What's the oddest, weirdest, grossest, funniest thing your kid has put in a place it didn't belong?

For three years, Salt Lake City dad Craig Lasson had no idea why his son, Isaak, couldn't breathe.

Doctor and after doctor prescribed antibiotics for what appeared to simply be another sinus infection.

Boy, were they ever wrong.

Turns out poor Isaak had a wheel-shaped Lego up his nose. The Lego, swaddled in a ball of fungus, had caused the 6 year-old problems eating, sleeping and breathing for three years until a new doctor finally discovered the tiny toy in his schnoz.

When asked by the doctor whether he'd put anything in his nose recently, Isaak responded, "I put some spaghetti up there, but that was a long time ago."

That said, what's the weirdest, grossest, oddest thing your child put in a place it didn't belong? Tell us in the comments below.

My son put a plastic bead in his nose! It took a lot of work with a tweezers but we did get it out and luckily didn't have to go to the ER.

My kiddo stuck a piece of baby carrot in her nose while she was spending the night at Grandma's. She was scared to mess with it and make it worse, so she did take her to the ER (where they got it out in like 2 seconds).

I was a young babysitter. Ryan shoved a Kix up his nose and I panicked. I ran him to the neighbor lady and she just pinched his nose and the crumbs fell right out!

That's so funny, Cathy! It's like a baby-sitter's worst nightmare, until the neighbor lady comes to the rescue!

When my daughter was about 6 years old, my husband, myself, and Jaimee we running some errands. It was dark out. My daughter started with a sneezing fit and couldn't stop. I told her that she would probably have to stay home from school the next day because it looked as though she caught a heck of a cold. She started giggling in the back seat. I asked her what was so funny and she told me that she stuffed tissues up her nose and that was why she was sneezing. She is now 16 and we still laugh about it.

My nephew when he was two, put a dried pinto bean in his ear. That required a ER trip at 2 AM. He was treated for an ear infection for two weeks before somebody figured out there was an obstruction. (not a clue as to why others didn't see it when using that ear scope thing).

A cooked raisin, and it was really far up there. The doc tried to remove it, but because it was cooked and soft, he was just getting little pieces of it. We scheduled an appointment with an ENT for that afternoon. While waiting for our appointment, I squeezed her nose and it popped right out. It must have worked it's way down a bit.

Our 2 year old grandson was eating his lunch the other day & put a frozen pea up his nose. He told me "nose, hurt. Pea, nose". Thankfully, I knew what to do, as my oldest daughters son had done the same thing a few years ago, & we googled the problem and learned that if you lay the child in your lap, put your mouth completely over his, and blow hard, the obstruction in the nose will shoot right out! At least it worked great with peas!

My son...in Middle School...was involved in a Science Project using magnets. Round Button Magnets. STRONGLY magnetized magnets.

Had them at home playing with them and thought it would be funny to put one in each nostril to see if they would stick.

They did.

Couldn't get them out--screaming kid, $75 trip to the E.R..

It took about 5 people to hold him down and pull them out.

Laurie, that's quite the story! He could have brought his findings to a science fair!

When my son was about three he said his nose was sore and something about green. We thought he had a cold and tried to get him to blow his nose. It wasn't until a few days later, putting him to bed, laying beside him that I noticed something in his nose and yes, it was green. A green bead. I was ready to go to the ER but my husband wanted to try and get it out, which he did. We still have the green bead attached to the contraption my husband made to remove it.

A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless) shared a story once about how her parents had given her some medication to help with a stuffy nose. Instead of swallowing the pills, she decided they would help better in the nose. And, up they went.
