President's Day weekend has brought warm breezes heralding the arrival of spring in Minneapolis. It's also brough the last days of ice skating in my Southwest Minneapolis parks.
According to a statement posted on the Minneapolis Park and Recrecaton Board website, the ice rinks at many local parks could damage playing fields of left on too long.
Starting on the morning of Wednesday Feb. 19, the park board will close most of the city's outdoor rinks and let the rinks melt.
Ice rinks at Lake of the Isles, Bohanon, McRae and Van Cleve parks are slated to remain open through March 3, weather and ice conditions permitting.
So take advantage of Monday's school release day to get one last time on the ice! Many Park Board outdoor rinks offer free loaner skates.
