Kingfield Pair Caught Swimming Naked In Lake Harriet
Police discovered man and woman while on "routine patrol."
Maybe a lack of air conditioning got to them?
Around midnight, Minneapolis Police officers on "routine patrol" around the northern edge of Lake Harriet spotted a man and a woman swimming, according to the police report of the incident. As swimming is not allowed in the lake at that time of night, according to Park Board rules, officers came down to the beach and called the pair in to land.
"On returning to the beach, officers observed that both were completely nude and not wearing any clothing," the report noted.
After the man and the woman were dressed, officers identified them via their drivers' licenses and later mailed citations for indecent exposure to the Kingfield residents' houses.

No joke! I swear! Actually, when I was at City Hall looking up the day's police reports, someone waiting in line for a copy of an accident report said that Friday would have been a good reason to join a nudist colony. We both had a laugh when I told her that I had just found this report.

Some might say that's just one more reason why Kingfield was just voted the best neighborhood in Minneapolis...

Completely naked AND not wearing any clothes? Were they charged twice?

I'm sure Kingfield was horrified by the spectacle of who naked people in the pitch black of night in the water....Great work MPD!!!

Now, a police person with some sense would have simply yelled "Hey! Get some clothes on!" and continued with their routine patrol. Hope nobody got burgled, robbed, or worse, while the cops were talking to and ticketing our nudie neighbors.

i don't know....
we may need to nip this in the bud. (;->) last week it was reported at lake calhoun.

cedar lake's hidden beach is gone:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidden_Beach
that leaves just one 'unauthorized' beach...twin lake (next to wirth park).

fyi...don't let your dog off leash (or even on leash standing in paw deep water) .... that's a really big fine.
i don't think the ticket cites 'indecent' exposure altho collarless and without tags gets you an extra fine.
2 or 3 dogs ? each gets his/her own citation.

I agree with Jesse -- Pretty lame MPD action !
( also agree with D.Maurice - where is the proof reader?)

@D.Maurice - No, they weren't cited twice.
@Jesse - As I wrote, the police didn't know the folks had clothes off until they got out of the water.
@all - I'm curious about your take on this: if the cops saw this and didn't do anything, would it be fair for them to go to go to Peavey Park and start citing folks loitering there for being in a park after closing time? (For those who don't know it, Peavy Park at Franklin and Chicago is reputed to have a lot of drug dealing issues at night)
There's something to be said for equal enforcement of the law.

There's also something to be said for spirit vs. letter of the law. These two weren't hurting anyone; he could have just told them to get dressed, and then let them off with a warning. I doubt they would have come back.

Fair enough.

I could see citig them for after hours - that would be fair and equal. But there wasn't any indecent exposure until after they were called out of the water.

Oh geez- I took 4 dreary years of anatomy/figure drawing at MCAD years ago. What is so shocking about the human body? Is anybody surprised to see that half of the population of the earth has a penis and the other half a vagina? Is there something else someone might have that would shock someone? Who gives a rat's ass if people want to go skinny dipping. I get so tired of this 'world class' city acting like it was a mid western old fart village.
