Ellison Joins NoH8 Campaign

The campaign was launched in 2008 as a protest against the passage of Proposition 8 in California, which amended the state Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

On Nov. 14, Congressman Keith Ellison used Facebook to announce that he's in support of the NOH8 campaign, a protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and his partner, Jeff Parshley, after Proposition 8 was passed in California.

California voters passed Proposition 8 in 2008 which amended the state's Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. According to the NOH8 website, Bouska and Parshley have taken photos of more than 30,000 people wearing tape across their lips which symbolizes "their voices being silenced by Prop 8."

On Facebook, Ellison wrote:

Proud to join the NO H8 Campaign to stand for liberty and justice for ALL Americans.

Ellison joined other celebrities, children and military officers who have also publically displayed their support for the cause.

His Facebook post garnered more than 20 comments and hundreds of likes. Facebook friend Forest Eidbo said:

I like the effort. But we did see that hate is a very hard thing to put away, even for Ellison during an election. Remember that debate on KFAI?

Another Facebooker said:

Thanks, Keith! Best representative ever! I'm proud to vote in this district.

So, what do you think about Ellison's public display of support for NOH8? Tell us in the comments.

I find it ironic that Ellison joins the NOH8 campaign. The question here is, when is Ellison going to start delivering for CD5 like his predecessor, Martin Sabo? Ellison isn't doing anything but joining causes that will not result in more livability wage paying jobs, closing the academic achievement gap; and by the way, the last time I checked it's African American children hurting the most; and assisting in coming up with a budget. Why are so many of you duped when it comes to this guy? Ellsion is anti Israel and anti-American. Ellison needs to go, and quickly.

Wow. Such a bad fella won by a large majority. How come if Ellsion is "anti Israel and anti-American" he has the support, including campaign volunteers, from the Jewish community? What is your intereset in Israel? What have you done to support Israel? Ellison is so anti American that he accepted President George Bush's call to act as a goodwill ambassador to the Middle East nations. Must be horrible Ellison's history of working with organizations representing may faiths. Martin Sabo brought home the bacon but didn't have the Tea Party controlled House or Represetative to deal with. Who did you campaign for? What have you done for African American children?

Mike, it's clear you're out of touch. I'm not surprised that you're an Ellison supporter. Most bleeding heart left leaning liberals are. Of course Ellison won. CD5 is a DFL district. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out.
