Doomsday Preppers Come to Twin Cities
Renewable energy, self-defense demonstrations and information on offer.
Did you miss the Solarize Kingfield workshops earlier this year? Don't worry: you can still learn all about solar power and a host of other techniques for reducing your impact on the environment at the Ramada Inn this Saturday.
The Survival Prepper Expo, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., offers attendees information about "(s)olar Power, Hydroponics, Proper Food storage, Heirloom Seeds, Water Purification, Security Systems, Self Defense, Bee Keeping, Wind Power, Dehydrated Food and much more!!!" according to its website.
Exhibitors also include solar oven specialists, emergency medicine experts, vendors of military surplus supplies, and people who can train you in urban combat skills.
Tickets are $15 per adult.
With Dec. 21, 2012 just around the corner, no doubt some survivalists are very concerned with preparing for the predicted "end of the world." However, the Expo's website does not mention whether any exhibitors are offering expedited shipping on any items purchased at the Dec. 15 event.
For the curious, NASA offers a long FAQ on exactly why the Earth will be just fine on Dec. 22. The short version: "Our planet has been getting along just fine for more than 4 billion years, and credible scientists worldwide know of no threat associated with 2012."
