Chris Fields: Now is a Time to Reflect, Not Retreat From Core Values

After being defeated by incumbent Congressman Keith Ellison, Fields reflects on the outcome of Election Day and encourages people to keep up their fight for a better America.

Editor's note: The following is a release from Chris Fields for Congress.

Dear Friends,

Last night was a very tough night for Republican candidates across the great state of Minnesota. In one night the State House and Senate went from red to blue. Seats that were traditionally “safe” lost in a landslide.

This loss is tough for all of us. I came up woefully short in my campaign to unseat Keith Ellison.

However, the campaign for freedom never dies.

It is because of the tremendous support, and generosity that each of you has given me we will live to fight another day. Our fight is not against Keith Ellison or the Democratic Party, it is a fight for America's future.

This is a time to reflect but not retreat from our core values.

It is worth noting that last night we received a record number of votes cast for a Republican candidate in the 5th  District. Because of your support, hard work and very generous financial contributions this is what we accomplished in the 5th Congressional District:

We have raised more money than the past three candidates to run against Keith Ellison, combined

With more than 88,000 votes cast in support of our campaign we received more votes than Senator Norm Coleman received in the 5th District during his successful run for the U.S. Senate in 2002.

We even received more votes than Governor Tim Pawlenty did in the 5th District during both of his successful runs for Governor.

We have something to build to on.  Let’s build it together!

America is worth fighting for.

Thank you.

God Bless you and your family,

Chris Fields

Chris,

The People have spoken now! Like Fannie Lou Hamer said, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired!" Your attacks on Keith Ellison were so harsh and unwarranted so now we can move forward. Let's all work together and make this a better place.

Chris, I think both Republicans and Democrats want the best for America. To suggest that "we " must continue the fight is counterproductive. Let us encourage the greater we---the we that does not contrast itself with "they" to work on building this country together. Lynn Voelbel

The issue is once one party is elected they think it is a mandate for their own agenda. Mr. Ellison dose not represent my voice. But I have sent emails and letters asking him to think about the different votes as I have no return of any correspondence. He even voted himself a pay raise when most families I know took a pay cut. Will he change this time? Will the voters wake up and listen to the issues instead of just following the party line to vote? That is why we have crappy representation in Washington. Why in any world dose a Micheal B. get reelected? and the same with Mr. Ellison?

The fiscally conservative, socially moderate message that the Ron Paul Republicans have brought to the table is the right message, I look forward to you carrying a similar platform forward my friend.
