Charges Officially Filed for Kingfield Car Break-ins

Charges were formally filed for two of the seven thefts from cars that occurred in Kingfield on Nov. 2-3.

On the night of Nov.2 and morning of Nov.3, there were seven reported thefts from cars in Kingfield. Police told Southwest Minneapolis Patch last week that an arrest was made, but a name wasn't formally released until today when the suspect, Adam Jalon Phillips, was charged in connection with two of the incidents.

Phillips, 30, is  charged with one count of gross misdemeanor theft, one count of misdemeanor theft and two counts of tampering with a motor vehicle, according to a bulletin sent out by 5th precinct Crime Prevention Specialist Amy Lavender.

Phillips is also a resident of the neighborhood. His address is listed as an apartment building on the 3600 block of 1st Avenue. 

The thefts occurred between 40th Street and 45th Street on Garfield, Harriet and Lyndale avenues. Cameras, iPods, and credit cards were among the stolen items. Police told Patch earlier that the suspect was arrested after trying to sell stolen items at a local pawn shop.
