Burglar Breaks Into House, Flees In Car

A resident of the 5100 block of Vincent Avenue South simultaneously had their house broken into overnight and their car stolen.
A garage on the 4100 block of York was burglarized overnight
A car was broken into overnight on the corner of 38th Street West and Bryant Avenue South.
A car was stolen from a driveway on the 3300 block of Pillsbury Avenue South.
A garage on the 5300 block of Stevens Avenue South was broken into overnight via a side door.
A caller on Monday told police that her car had been broken into on the 6100 block of Lyndale Avenue South, between 1:50 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. on Aug. 11. The thief bad broken off the air conditioner knob, and used the resulting hole to steal the car’s stereo. The car had been left unlocked.
A caller reported that their car, parked on the 3800 block of Harriet Avenue South, was broken into between Aug. 11 and Aug. 13. The person’s car has been broken into twice before.
A 17-year old stopped by the Post Office on the 5500 block of Nicollet Avenue South, and hid his bike behind a set of bushes. When he left, the bike was gone.
An unlocked storage shed on the 5800 block of Oliver Avenue South was broken into overnight.
An unknown criminal broke open the door of a storage unit on the 3500 block of Nicollet late at night. Police said nothing was stolen.
A car on the 5000 block of Aldrich Avenue South was spray-painted with graffiti overnight.
A car on the 6000 block of Thomas Avenue South had a swastika and the words “fag” and “bitch” carved into it’s two driver’s-side doors. The victim’s house also had tomatoes and eggs thrown at it that same night.
Police cited a driver for fleeing the scene of a car accident on the 5200 block of Chowen Avenue South.
An unknown suspect tried to break into a house on the 3800 block of Drew Avenue South, using a paver from the house’s garden.
A grill was stolen from the driveway of a house on the 5200 block of Xerxes Avenue South.
An unknown intruder pried the locks off of nine storage units overnight in an apartment building on the 4800 block of Nicollet. It is unknown what, if anything, was taken from the lockers.
An unknown person took a laptop from an apartment on the 3500 block of Garfield Avenue South overnight. The victim believes a guest at a party held that night may be responsible.
A bike was stolen from a garage on the 4000 block of Grand Avenue South around 5 p.m.
Someone broke into the Abbott Insurance Agency office on the 300 block of 46th Street West around 2:45 a.m. Nothing was taken apart from $50 that had been left in a desk drawer.
A garage on the 5700 block of Russell Avenue South was broken into over the previous two days.
A car parked on the 3100 block of Lyndale Avenue South was broken into during the afternoon.
A bike worth $2500 was stolen from a garage on the 4400 block of Pleasant Avenue South, between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. The victim complained that a 911 dispatcher had told him to call 311 to report the crime instead.
A house on the 5900 block of Oliver Avenue South was burglarized between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., via an unlocked side door.
A car parked at the corner of West 38th Street and Aldrich Avenue South was broken into during the day. The victim’s work laptop was taken from her bag.
A cellphone was stolen from a bag left by the side of the Bryant Square Park basketball courts.
The front license plate was stolen off of a car parked at Lake Harriet Montessori.
A decorative yard ornament was stolen from a yard on the 5200 block of Ewing Avenue South.
A retaining wall on the 4900 block of Xerxes Avenue South was sprayed with graffiti.
